Get away!!

Keeley is into a "mine" phase and a "my do it". She does not want, under any circumstances, for Kayden to be anywhere near her bike. That has caused some problems for us....

Too fast!

Kayden is growing up too fast. She is completely in love with a peek a boo book we have and last night started lifting the flaps to reveal the hiding animals. Today she took her first step all on her own! We were visiting her second cousins Trey, Alisha, and Etta. Kayden got so excited about Trey that she forgot herself for a moment and took a step toward him. She's not even 9 months old yet! It is absolutely not time for her to start walking!!!

"Stop"

Thanks to Oma, anytime we run out of something that Keeley wants or she asks for something we don't have she says (very dramatically) "stop store". She even throws her hands out to the sides. Lately she has decided that "dada stop store".

Today we were reading the Elmo and Friends book for the millionth time and she was assigning snowflakes to people. She assigned one to Poppy, one to Oma, one to Kayden, and one to Dada. When I asked where mine was, she paused and said the following (with many long pauses):
"stop store dada get it snowflake" and then nodded. Cracks me up!

Busy Kayden

Kayden certainly keeping us busy lately!! She is determined to be everywhere and do everything that big sister does. There is no time to be a baby for her!

She can climb up the playground equipment at the park.

She can carry her own straw cup on to the trampoline just like sister.

And she can stand up all by herself!!!

She is also absolutely adorable in every other way. Here she is playing in the kitchen and then talking to me.

Keeley Updates

Keeley is 23 months old now. I can't believe we will have a 2 year old next month! She's been keeping us on our toes lately. She is still obsessed with her pajamas. She really prefers the footy pjs most of the time. You'll notice her wearing pjs a lot in the following pictures. Most of the pictures were taken in the evening or afternoon after she changed from her nighttime pjs into daytime pjs.

Playing in the garden with Katelyn. Keeley was shirtless from 3pm until bedtime. She does not have pjs on in this picture. Instead she is wearing her "bug pants". These are pink pants that have a bug on the back pocket. Keeley thinks that she should be able to enjoy the bug so she always wears them backward. If she accidentally puts them on the correct way, she'll say "uh oh backwards".

New haircut! She wanted a bow after we cut her hair. Usually I am not even able to brush it. The fact that she let me cut it and put a bow in is amazing! Here we have Keeley playing peek a boo with Daddy. Here she is getting her diaper changed. She told Kelly she needed to do it in the playroom. Obviously in the garden is the best location for a diaper change!
Keeley has been a monkey since she was little. Sometimes this works out for her.

Sometimes it does not! She climbed up and then started crying when she couldn't get down. Kayden gave her a pacifier. And a funny side note about how we can be embarrassed by our children. Kelly had the girls at the jewelry store the other day picking up a necklace for me. Have I mentioned I have an amazing husband? He took the day off so that I could take the day off and then got me jewelery! Anway, while they were picking the necklace up, Keeley pointed at his crotch and said "tinkle". Fortunately for all adults involved, the jewelery store lady was looking the other way! SO funny how the kids watch everything we do intently.

Peek a Boo

This is one of the best things about babyhood I think. How can you not love a game that causes fits of laughter repeatedly in your sweet little one? Especially when all it requires is ducking out of sight for two seconds and reappearing.

Kayden has thought this was funny for quite some time now. Tonight, however, she initiated the game on her own. I had the rare opportunity to put her down (Keeley usually demands I put her down) and we were reading a book. Kayden is a bit of a wiggle worm and after a while she was facing me and playing with her book. She held it in front of her face and then pulled it down and smiled really big. I said "peek a boo" and she repeated it several more times with giggles and huge smiles. The book got a little dangerous since she is still working on fine motor skills so I handed her a burp cloth and she played a little while longer with that one.
