More Ice Play!

The kids had so much fun with the ice the other day that I decided to use another idea I saw online and add some arctic creatures and blue dye.  The kids loved it!

Slide for the animals.  It didn't take long for the "land animals" to make it out to our water world.  They had to be "rescued" a lot!

After the kids grew tired of the water play (and most of the ice melted), we played in the neighbors front yard.  They love walking on the retaining wall and rolling down the hill.

Television

This morning the girls asked if they could watch tv.  I told them no and reminded them how grumpy they got yesterday after they watched tv.  Kayden quickly said, "We should make a tv!  Mom, do you have a cardboard box?"  We got a card board box, taped it as instructed, and they began decorating.

Painting each side a different color in our new "art room".

TV show
The news station. This is particularly funny to me  because we never watch the news with the kids.  The only excpetion to that is the time I was watching for tornado updates.
Brother and sister watching Kayden as the tv show.

Right now...

Killian is growing and changing so much. Some of the things I love right now:

* He finally said "mama"!!  Hooray!  Now, it was at a time that he was asking for a nursing session and was denied.  And it was after a pathetically sad expression and face buried in my shoulder.  But I still love it!

* His words so far are for - Dad, shoes, outside and then he can say "mama" but chooses not too. When I ask, he just giggles.

* When he wants something and can't communicate it, he will turn his palms face up and shrug his shoulders a little.  It is so adorably cute.

* Just today he figured out that he can move objects (like step stools and chairs) around to accomplish the climbing he wants to accomplish.

*  He also threw a toilet paper roll and a little mouse doll in the kids' hamper.  I didn't notice until I was taking out the wet clothes to move to the dryer and discovered shredded toilet paper roll all over the washing machine.

* For some unknown reason, he thinks my brush belongs on the floor in my shower.  Every morning he is with me while I get ready he will take it, put it in the shower, and close the door with a satisfied look before walking away.  What is going on in that mind of his?

First Hair Cut

In the span of two days, three people at separate times told me I should get Killian's hair cut.  It isn't all that long, but he has some scraggly parts.  We took him to the kids cut place because I had no desire to try myself.  Totally worth the $7 I paid.
I told her quickly that I didn't care if he wore the smock.  There wasn't that much hair to cut and he was freaking out about her trying to put it on him.
He took several of her combs!

First sucker!  Good stuff.

Cute Kids

The girls have gotten very, very interested in my make up and wanting to wear some.  Keeley was very sad the day I told her she could not wear make-up or "fancy shoes"until she was a teenager.  On Saturday I decided to let them wear some make up.  I am definitely not ready for this! I am also glad (and a little a jealous) that they got their daddy's eyelashes.

Killian's latest is that whenever he is doing something he is probably not supposed to be doing, he'll make a loud "aahh" noise to make sure you see it.  He is loving climbing on the window sill.

Kiwi Crate Firefly Craft

We received another Kiwi Crate.  The girls love them so much!  This craft is my favorite so far.  They decorated bottles with translucent stickers and then added wings, antennae, and a cork with googly eyes to complete the firefly.  We then stuck a glow stick inside and threaded a string through a straw so we could fly them.

Water play

In the afternoon and in the morning, our front yard is the most shaded area outside our house.  We've been trying to take advantage of that.  Killian can not see a tub of water and resist the urge to get in.

The kids ended up so sandy that we went straight to the back yard, stripped, ran in the sprinklers until they were all clean, and then went inside naked to shower.  So much sand!!!
Frozen ice blocks for building a castle.  This was an idea from Peep.  I'm fairly certain that Peep didn't live somewhere that the temperature was over 80 before 9am!
Freeing the ice from the containers.

Trying to build....

Attempt #1 to distract Killian from the girls' castle building.
Attempt #2 to distract from the castle building.
They added sand to the ice to make it not so slippery.
Their finished product!

Rock Painting

We were outside this morning and all getting a little bit bored. I thought it might be fun to paint some of our big river rocks.  We did have fun.  I think we would have had more fun had I not been trying to prep it with a very active little boy at my feet.
He needed all the paint brushes.  Notice there is already paint on his nose.
Covered in a bit of paint herself..
Finished products sitting out to dry.
So cute but oh my!
His pjs are definitely still stained!  Makes me smile when I put them on him at night.
