"Nap Time"

This is what happened during "nap time" today.  When I walked in, it was still hanging from the top two holders, but she had pried it out of all the other spots.

You'll notice that the evidence from our other nap time fiasco is still there.  When I tell her that she needs be still during nap time, her response is, "but my legs keep moving."  Yes, Kayden, apparently they do. Along with everything else about you.  I think we are going to be permanently moving bed time up 30 minutes and just getting rid of nap time.  The problems caused during the rest time are just about not worth it!!

Tricycles

While the girls were riding their tricycles this morning, I told them that my mom wanted a picture of them.  Keeley said "Hold on!  We need to bonk our tricycles together"  They then proceeded to get at opposite ends of the hallway and pedal full speed ahead at each other.  I stopped them right before they crashed but Keeley wanted to pose the trikes to look like they had crashed.  I would have figured that for a boy thing....

More Snow Days

The girls were excited to have more snow days, at first.  Then they realized that it is exceptionally boring to be stuck at home with mom for multiple days in a row.  Not that I'm boring so much as I think they grew really tired of being stuck IN the house for that many days.  On Friday, they both came to me separately and asked if we could please go somewhere.  Fortunately, Daddy stayed home and we braved the one mile drive to McDonald's to play.  I think we stayed close to 2 hours!  They also didn't like that the snow wasn't much fun to actually play in.  We did manage to get them as warm as we could and they played with Daddy for a little bit out there.  Poor Daddy had to do it twice because Kayden threw a fit while Keeley was out there because she wanted to go out in only her panties.  By the time I convinced her it was too cold for that, Keeley wanted to come in.
Posing for the camera.  And she insisted on the skirt!

Finally decided to join Keeley and Dad in the fun.

Chasing Dad.
We watched a lot of tv, baked, played games, and even fished these blocks out of the attic. They were quite proud of themselves and their work with the block.  Amazing how fun toys are once they've been away for a few months!

Please disregard the laundry in the back and the towel for the dogs. Focus on the cute girls and the masterpiece they created instead!

We managed to only have a few falls and sustain one injury.  That one injury was poor Kayden and it happened in our house while she was sleeping.  I woke up to her screaming and ran (relatively speaking for being 6 months pregnant and asleep myself) into her room.  She'd fallen out of bed and landed (we guess) on her water bottle lid -  cutting the inside of her cheek and scratching up the outside of her mouth pretty badly.  Poor girl.  What a sad way to wake up!
All in all, I think we were all ready to go back to school!

Banking

Keeley's understanding of banking as told to Oma, "Daddy puts money in the bank and Mommy takes it out."

True, but somehow it leaves me feeling a little like a thief.

Child Proofing

We've done our best, as I'm sure most parents have, to child proof the house.  So far it has worked (with the notable exception of the electric shock Kayden gave herself....).  We have those "child proof" locks on the doors we don't want them opening - front door, toy closet, pantry - and for the most part they haven't messed with trying to break them yet.  They know that they come apart and I know it is just a matter of time until they get them all cracked off, but they haven't done that yet.  Sunday morning I was surprised by something else they managed to get open.

I was sitting in the computer room and Kelly was in the shower, so I thought.  All of the sudden I heard the refrigerator door open and thought it weird.  Then I heard Kayden say, "I got it, Keeley."  I walked in there and saw a green kid's chair in front of the refrigerator door but no kids.  Immediately I figured they were in Keeley's room so I went there and asked what they had gotten out of the fridge.  Kayden looks at me with a mouthful of the treat I told them they couldn't have until after church and one in her hand and says, "I got three."  Keeley, whose head had been down with her hands behind her back, looks up and says, "I didn't really do it.  Kayden got them."  The treats they wanted were on the top shelf so I guess Kayden figured she needed the chair to get high enough to reach them.

Do other people's 2.5 and 3.5 year olds conspire to get things they aren't allowed and then try to blame the other one?  And do they make locks for the refrigerator?  Clearly, the goodies they want are not in the pantry!

Car Conversations

After being trapped in the house for the week of winter weather, we decided to take the girls out on Saturday.  Unfortunately, everyone else was doing the same thing.  After our original destination was entirely too busy, we decided to head down toward the mall to play and ride the train.  I guess that was long enough for the girls to get some serious thinking time in because we had some interesting conversations.

Out of nowhere (no one was even talking), Keeley said, "Whose tummy were the very first people in."  When I told her no one's, she said "I guess they weren't babies then."  Then she said, "I guess Owen can't have a baby because he doesn't have a uterus."  When I told her that was right, only mommies had a uterus, Kayden spoke up and said, "No, I have one too."

Not exactly conversation I expected to be having with our 2.5 and 3.5 year olds!
