Random January

For some reason, I hardly took any pictures this month.  The ones I did take were mainly of Killian with my phone.  So as not to lose the entire month, I've posted them here. Totally random collection...
Killian was upset I left and went in his room to read.  Kayden joined him.  Both girls are just so sweet with him.

Some lego building with Dad....

Must be in the sand, not just touching it with his hands...

Asleep with two shirts and underwear on top of his pants.

 Oh my the hair!

He loves to help me cook.  Here we are making sweet potato burgers
Sampling his work after he helped me mash.
More sampling...
And mashing...
and sampling...
 THE HAIR again!!!

Adorable fireman and Firehouse Subs.

Sweeping in diaper and underwear because it was the only way I could keep his diaper on.  And that kid loves to sweep. LOVES it!

Cried so hard in church nursery this sweet worker took him out for a cuddle.  Killian calmed down so much that this is how we found him after service - totally passed out.

Cleaning my windows.  He's a helpful little guy.

Passed out after school.  He refused to let me take off his shoes, hat, mittens, or jacket.  He took the hat off during the nap.

One morning we went to the grocery store and he insisted on taking his own little cart.

The next time the entire family went to the store, all three kids needed a cart.
Cleaning the handles.

Not sure what is happening here but I love that Kayden is whispering to him.

Keeley called me into her room to show me Killian covered in her lip gloss.  She thought it was really funny until he tried to get away from me and it got all over her comforter.

A friend gave us some clothes and Killian found these shoes that are at least 3 sizes too big and insisted that he wear them to our appointment at the doctor. He is so opinionated and so strong willed.

Shoes out the window

Today we had some unseasonably beautiful weather.  After the school playdate, we had a few minutes to spare before dinner so we decided to head over and see if there was any progress on the house.  We rolled the windows down to enjoy the weather and then set out on our way.  Stopped at a stoplight I started to hear yelling.  After a few seconds, I discovered the yelling was at me.  I started to listen and the yelling was, "Ma'am!  Ma'am! Your son threw his shoe out the window."  Sure enough, Killian had thrown a shoe out the window.  At a major intersection.  At rush hour.  We traveled through the light, did a u-turn, did another u-turn, and I hoped out quickly to grab it.  I've always wondered why there were shes on the road.  Now I know...

First Day of Preschool

Our plan all along this year was to start Killian in school with the girls in the spring (at the same age that Kayden was when she started montessori).  Well, it has been a crazy year at the school and I was none too impressed with the toddler program.  There is no longer anyone certified in that room to teach montessori and I didn't want to pay for day care when I didn't need it.  I went round and round about what to do and finally decided that he would like to play with some kids his own age (and maybe a few boys!) and that it would be nice for me to actually be able to attend chapel with the girls.  Every Wednesday morning the girls have chapel and Killian thinks he needs to participate and play the piano, help with the altar table, check on the other classes...so I have stopped going.  I love chapel.  I figured the win-win would be to put Killian in two days a week (just in the mornings).
Not so sure about this...

I have a picture every year of the girls in front of the bear on the porch on their first day of school.  Killian was way too distracted by the worm on the ground to even look at me so I don't have that picture of him!  We had to move back inside.

Once inside I tried to get a picture of all three but he wasn't having the standing still and smiling nonsense...

BUSY boy!  The first day I stayed in the classroom with him for about an hour.  He clung to me and only cried a little when I left.  He did well while I was gone though, only tearing up at transition times.  When I picked him up he was ready for a hug, a snack, and his sister.  Here he is looking out waiting for Kayden!

Update:  We only left him in preschool for 6 classes because I was not happy with the classroom.  Maybe I'll get a better set of first day photos when we try again!

Dallas Zoo

I decided to take the kids to the zoo one Saturday morning when Kelly wasn't feeling well to give him so time to rest.  There is certainly no quiet resting with three kids in the in house!  The weather was supposed to be cool but sunny so I thought we'd be okay.  I was wrong because the weather was wrong!  There was no sun.  Fortunately, there was plenty for us to do in the indoor exhibits.  On the way to see the naked mole rats  we paused to pose with some of the statutes....

Kayden is trying to make sure I can see the armadillo :-)
After our little photo shoot, we went to see the naked mole rat.  We almost never got out of there.  The girls love that section so much.  They cracked me up this trip because they kept wanting to re-enact "The Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed" and they ran through the tunnels saying, "A proclamation!  A proclamation! A proclamation!" So funny.

When we left that section, we went over to the reptiles and they had this tornado simulator the girls tried out.

The were not loving it and I had to let them out!

They did really like the snakes and other reptiles.  Killian, not so much.
