My Dare Devil

Ever since the amputated finger incident, our kitchen table has been pushed against the wall, the girls' chairs pushed in, and I've been eating on an exercise ball. I've also removed the green chairs the kids use at their kiddie table. All of this because Kayden keeps climbing on the chairs and shaking them. I don't understand how this is possible. If you talk about how she hurt her finger, she'll come show you the hurt finger and make a sad face. Somehow though, she doesn't make the connection between her crazy climbing and the injury.

Anyway, this weekend she learned to climb into her high chair and into Keeley's booster seat if the chairs were left pulled out from the table a little. This morning, she was trying to get into her high chair that was pushed in by scaling the side. She pulled the chair down on top of her. Fortunately, I was standing right there and caught the chair as she landed in a little stroller that happened to be sitting there. Now, there are no chairs at the table. I've moved all of them to another room unless we are actually in them.

I got everyone calmed down and loaded the car up for Gymboree. At this point I'm a little nervous because Keeley started wearing panties on Thursday last week. This is still pretty new and, while we haven't really had many accidents, Gymboree is pretty distracting. I decided that instead of following Kayden around as closely as I usually do, I'd keep an eye on her but stay closer to Keeley to make sure we didn't have an accident.

That was the wrong choice. Kayden was within arms reach, but still managed to swing off a slide and slam into the steps. She now has this bolt shaped bump on her forehead and a swollen upper eye lid.

Seriously? My kid is THIRTEEN months old. Some kids aren't even walking yet. How does she keep getting into such trouble?!

Good news: She quickly settled down when they offered her some goldfish and Keeley didn't have any accidents!

Public Toilets

Well, we have now had our first introduction to public toilets. I knew it was coming, I just wasn't prepared for it today since Keeley is still in diapers 99.9% of the time.

We went to the mall today to play and ride the carousel. Our mall has big family restrooms that have a kid sized toilet and an adult toilet. I wheeled the double stroller in with Kayden securely fastened in, Keeley, on the other hand, was walking because she didn't want to ride in the stroller.

I had just sat down and Keeley says "My go potty in little one" and I glance over to see no diaper and shorts around her ankles. I reached out to help her try to sit down only to hear her bottom plop into the toilet. Disgusting. To stop herself from falling all the way in, she is gripping the sides of the toilet. Also revolting. She then actually manages to tinkle in the potty -- well, sort of. Most of it ends up on the floor. With a HUGE grin she looked up and said "My did it! My tinkle in potty!" She then looked down and said "uh-oh. Keeley made a big mess". As she stands up to try to clean up all the tinkle on the floor, her shorts fall into the puddle. Fortunately, there was an air dryer in the bathroom so I could at least try to dry them. I didn't have extra clothes with me because we aren't "officially" potty training. I've learned my lesson! Dried urine on her shorts just completed the gross event!

Life with toddlers is NEVER boring.

Potty time

We are in the process of potty training. Keeley is really getting into it and we have a great potty book that she loves to read. here she is teaching her doll Charlotte how to go potty and read the book.

Busy, busy

Kayden's cast came off (since she put it in dog water twice) and we got cleared from the doctor. Unless you are looking right at her finger, you won't notice it at all. The orthopedic surgeon said the nail should grow back in 6 months. As long as we don't notice any problems, we don't have to go back to see her.

However, we are likely to continues to be in the ER and specialists if she continues like this...why does she insist on being dangerous?!

Here she got clothes out of the hamper and put one in the dog water bowl, one in the empty dog food bowl and then put them together. Why? I have no idea!

She gets in the pink stool like this at least 5 times a day. She NEVER gets out on her own and always gets mad. Where is her learning curve?!

She carried this book of Kelly's all over the house. Every once and a while, she'd plop down and flip through it.

She LOVED the pool and her Uncle Kendall. Here is she trying to blow bubbles just like Kendall did. It was really cute how much she liked him.

Crazy outfits and more

Keeley has just finished summer school at her new school. She loved it. She has two new friends - Gavin and Lucas - and she talks about them all the time. There are other girls in her class but she has never once mentioned them. She is becoming more independent and more complex in her communication which is fun. However, the best thing about this stage continues to be the awesome outfits!
Here we have two shoes, bathing suit bottom, and mom's water belt.

At school, they had pony tail day and she actually let them put her hair up!!! So cute!

One Friday, she had "silly sock" day at school. Kelly had the idea to let her decorate her own socks. She was really into it!

"Resting" in Mom and Dad's bed wearing a tutu.

Keeley has gotten really into tracing her hands and feet. This is from the tub one night. You can see two feet and two hands (one is a little faded). The other big circle that is orange and green is her bottom. She insisted that it be traced!

And, the best for last......This is a stethoscope twisted around as her pants...

...and her camera backward on her neck to cover her bottom.
She is off for a ride around the house.
