Last night at dinner Kayden finished and was excused to go play. Keeley, Kelly, and I were sitting around the table talking. Keeley looks up at me and says, "Mom, what does sterical mean?" (I was a little confused since we weren't talking about anything that used that word) I replied, "well, hysterical means something that is really funny." She said, "oh, well, Kayden was hysterical in the car today when she said she wasn't talking to Kayden. That is so silly because she's Kayden."
Kelly and I both cracked up because she felt the need to verify her word before using it in a sentence but clearly had a story she wanted to tell using it.

Baby K - 24.5 weeks
Here are baby K and I at a little more than 6 months along. He's getting strong and kicking a lot. Kelly can feel him regularly now. He likes to kick when I'm trying to go to sleep and any time I get up with the girls in the middle of the night. He also appears to enjoy brownies and Chick-Fil-A biscuits :-)

Snow Day
We got snow, and a lot of it. My girls were happy because they understand that it is cold and snows in the winter and it was hard for me to explain to them that it doesn't usually snow here. Unfortunately, we didn't get to play in it much because they were both pretty sick. On Sunday night, we caved and let them play for a little bit. There was so much snow and it was so soft. It seemed a shame to not let them experience it at all since who knows when we will have more!
Kayden saved me toward the end of our playtime because she told Kelly to stop throwing snowballs at me!
All decked out and excited to walk through our flower beds. |
Keeley amazed at how deep the snow is. It almost comes over her boots. |
Not quite sure what to make of this.... |
Probably not the best plan since she doesn't have water proof mittens, but she sure loved it. |
Making a snow angel (her idea). She didn't seem to mind too much that her pjs were getting wet and cold. She giggled the whole time. |
Kayden, however, didn't last as long. She instantly stood up, turned toward the house and said, "I'm freezing" and she was done! |

Kayden
I truly feel like Kayden is really smart, except on days when she does something that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. On those days I wonder what is going on in her head. We've been struggling with her and light in her room. She's afraid of the dark (age appropriate) but also tends to do things that are dangerous: dismantle a lamp while it was plugged in (because she couldn't reach the plug behind the protector) and scale furniture to reach the lamps that are too high for her to reach. We thought we'd solved the problem by putting these little flashlight night-lights in her room. She proved us wrong however during "nap time" when this happened.
Later that night, she was still talking about the "pop" sound that it made and how they were dangerous. After we'd relived that a few times with Dad, we started talking about our trip to Disney World. We'd just watched the Little Mermaid and Ariel Beginnings (both girls are very sick) and I asked if she thought we'd see Ariel at Disney World. She hesitated for a minute and I was afraid she was going to talk about Ursula or the fact that Ariel's mom dies in the first one. She didn't though. She pointed to the counter and said, "We need to take those black things up there (the remotes) so we can skip past the dad when he's grumpy." Kelly and I had to try really hard not to laugh - at the fact that the dad being grumpy was more traumatizing than Ursula or the mom dying and at the fact that she thinks the remote control can "skip past" the scary parts in life.
Apparently she was trying to put the chain from this necklace between the flashlight and the wall (while it was plugged in). It essentially welded the necklace to the flashlight. |
It also did this to the outlet and flipped the breaker switch. We are investigating some other night light option now.... |
