Beach - Day 1

I decided near the end of the school year that we needed to try a trip to the beach.  I did this despite the fact that we aren't really sun loving people and I don't really care for sand everywhere.  After consulting with some friends, we decided to head to Gulf Shores.  We booked a condo and invited Oma. She said she'd love to come (hooray!).  I then set about researching what we actually needed - not much!  Very different than all my Disney planning.
We were all excited and couldn't wait for August to finally arrive.  Oma spent the night so we'd be ready to leave early in the morning.  All the grown ups woke up, got ready, and finished loading the car and then went to wake the kiddos up.  The girls were super excited and instantly became very talkative.  As we loaded up in the very dark early morning, the kids just kept talking and waiting for the sun to get up!

When the sun finally did wake up, the kids dug into their activity bags.

We played for a bit, watched a little Peep, and stopped for lunch.  After lunch I mandated quiet time and everyone took a nap.  They woke up from naps, played, watched some more Peep, and it was time for dinner.  We just had a tiny bit of a drive left after dinner.  It was SO nice to arrive at a reasonable hour.  We may need to start leaving so early when we head to Disney World!

As Kelly and I got checked in and started to unload, the kids explored the beach for the first time with Oma.

Killian loved the sand.  Not the water so much, but he did love the sand.
After we were all unpacked, we went down to collect the kids.  They were totally drenched!  We settled in for the night so we'd be rested for our first day of adventure!
