Spring Concert

The school culminates its fine arts program for the year in a big spring concert.  All the fine art specials are involved - the kids either sing or do a musical number for music, they dance for movement, and there is an individual and class art auction.  Each of the after school activities for fine arts also participates so Keeley and Kayden each had an additional performance for their ballet/ensemble groups.  The 4th graders at the school write the entire script for the performance in a creative writing workshop and they also serve as the actors for all of those pieces.  It was such a neat experience to see it all come together.  For the concert the school uses an actual theater in Plano so the students are able to perform on a stage and use the dressing rooms in the back.  The kids thought it was so neat to be in dressing rooms!
Here are some before pictures....

The toddlers were up first.  They danced in painting smocks.  I was backstage helping with the kindergartners so I was able to watch from the wings.  Killian did pretty well from what I could see!

The ballet girls were up next.  So adorable.  Kayden is one of the oldest in the ballet group and I think she looks a lot older in the pictures.  A little less preschooler and a little more grade schooler.  Growing up so fast.

Kayden had a fast change from ballet to her graduating kinder dance where she was a waiter.  This dance was really cute and they sang a little bit too.

Then came Keeley with her music performance - drums.
Keeley had a little break and then the first grade performance dance.  They each had a number and used that melting clock picture as a background and were a clock.  It was a very interesting performance.

The very next performance was ensemble so she had a super quick change while the 4th graders acted out the next little part of the scene.  She did really well this go around.  Ensemble is a group of 1st-6th graders and it is interesting to watch how much more confident the older girls are.  I was proud of Keeley's increased confidence compared to her last performance and also happy that she seemed to be having so much fun.

It was a really fun, very busy evening!  Grandma and Oma both came to watch.  Our kids are super loved.
