Talking to me about the shots he just received. |
Here are some hightlights of the last month
* He loves to watch his sisters - especially when Kayden talks. He seems to think she is quite funny.
Watching Kayden at eat lunch and entertain him. |
* Takes 4, 45 minute naps which is annoying, but sleeping great at night. Sevenish to sevenish with only one waking usually. It is sort of funny though that you could literally set a clock based on how close to 45 minutes they each are.
* He will have entire "conversations" wit you now that include a furrowed brow, lots of vowels and consonants, lots of bubble blowing, and different inflection in his voice. You can also make him laugh just by talking with him.
* He loves to be snuggled and is still definitely "my baby" as he likes to nurse all the time and flat out refuses a bottle.
Milestones -
* August 17th, grabbed rings
* August 18th - playing with octopus on bouncy seat
* August 23rd - trying to roll - grabs feet
So smiley. This is after vomiting 4 times, with a fever, and an ear infection. Still smiley and talking. |
Just as I thought, the first question from the doctor was whether or not he was rolling over. He is not. I told her I think it is more a motivation issue since his sisters are always about 4 inches from his face. Motivation and preference - he much prefers to talk to you or try to sit/stand/army crawl. She checked him out and said his muscle tone seemed fine and his lack of rolling was probably a combo of being unmotivated and cautious (we could use some of that in our family!!). He passed all the other checks - laughing, grabbing for things..He also is doing well on his "6 month" checks which include having consonants and balancing while sitting for a few seconds. So I feel a little better about the no rolling over.
Stats:
* Length: 26.5inches (93%)
* Weight: 15.5lbs (62%)
* Head Circumference: 16.25inches (24%)
We talked about solid foods. I know! How is he already big enough for that talk. She told me that it is still best to wait until 6 months like we did with the girls but that he is a big boy and might need it sooner than that. We'll see. Solids is fun, but oh the mess!
I'll leave you with this. I think Killian looks like a mini-Kelly at this point, but he has my expressive face.
