We went to do the doctor today for Killian's 6 month check up. The pediatrician is pleased with his stats -
weight - 17.8 lbs (54%)
length - 27 inches (69%)
head circumference - 31 inches (32%)
She also said his sleep is fine. I wish the naps were longer, but he sleeps about 13 hours a night so I can't complain too much. Plus, he is always happy so it is obviously working for him!
The only concern I really had was his eating. He still refuses a bottle and will not eat solid foods. We've been trying for a month and I've tried a variety of foods (homemade and jar), several different times to feed, a few different feeding methods (different spoons, my fingers, his fingers), and a lot of patience - he just isn't having it. He only wants me. As sweet as that is, it means he needs me a lot. He is back to nursing every 2.5 hours or so and frequently wakes up 3 times a night to eat. The pediatrician asked about his reaction to solids. He is very interested but only get a few spoonfuls in before he just refuses to open his mouth anymore. She said he may just be one of those babies that largely skips that type of solid and moves more to table foods once the pincer grasp is a little more developed.
He is sitting well and can roll around - still no interest in crawling yet but a little less content to just sit. He talks a lot and has lots of consonants. All in all, a great check up! The only sad part was all the shots normally scheduled for a 6 month visit and the flu shot. I know they are important but it is just so sad to see him upset. He gets the biggest, saddest frown and then starts crying. It is bad enough to see him sad because he just about never is but that face is the worst!
