The next morning we woke up early and go the kids up early to head out again. With no definite destination, our goal was just to make it up the coast line as far as possible. Killian was not a fan of the early morning wake up. He didn't actually go back to sleep but he stayed covered for a bit!
We had driven out over the Golden Gate bridge but it was so foggy the kids couldn't even see it. Oh well. About 2 hours out of town we stopped for some bagels. Love those sweet faces.
Mid-afternoon the kids started to need some serious time out of the car. We found this very touristy spot and it was just perfect. This giant guy talked to the visitors.
After we explored him a bit, we went into the forest.
It was a lot of fun. There were some gondolas that took everyone up above the trees but the wait was about 30 minutes so just explored the trails (and the gift shop!) and got back on the road.
As we drove through Oregon we discovered that it was beautiful but not very road trip friendly. None of the gas stations had bathrooms! We eventually found a motel (no hotels available much to Keeley's frustration) and got some dinner. As we were settling down for bed we discovered that the motel didn't have any air conditioning so we had to sleep with the windows open. It was very hard for this momma to feel safe with that decision but I was exhausted and fell asleep anyway!
