On Monday we planned to head to Magic Kingdom and catch the opening. The opening there is really cute and we enjoyed getting to see it last year. Miraculously though, our girls slept a little late and we missed the opening show. That's okay, though, we still got there early and had lots of fun!
At the bus stop ready for Magic Kingdom. |
I had done my research on Magic Kingdom and really knew where we wanted to go to avoid lines. Lines with kids are not exciting. Lines with a baby strapped on are miserable. We headed straight to Fantasy Land and quickly rode Winnie the Pooh and then went to get a Fast Pass for Peter Pan. While we waited for the Fast Pass time we rode the carousel and Small World.

I think the best part of this section of Magic Kingdom was that Killian could do everything! Here we are on Small World. |

There was still a little time before our Peter Pan fast pass return so I decided the big kids should go ride the Tea Cups while I took Killian to the "baby care" station to nurse. We didn't visit the baby care at all last year because the girls didn't really need them. I spent a lot of time in them this year though and they are FABULOUS!! There is a room that is dimly lit with rocking chairs for nursing moms, a big area for diaper changing in another section, and another section to feed babies and let them play. I didn't have high hopes for Killian nursing since he will only nurse in his room with the door closed and no one around at home. He didn't seem to mind the setting though and settled right into nursing. Every time I would nurse him in one of those rooms he'd smile and look around the room mid-way through our session as if to say, "everyone here is getting milk!" It was so sweet. We visited these rooms multiple times at Magic Kingdom and also at Epcot.
While I was tending to the baby, the big kids were sneaking up on a lizard
and riding the Tea Cups with Uncle Kendall. They went "SO FAST!" according to their stories.
After the Tea Cups for the big kids and the little meal for Killian, we rode Peter Pan and then headed straight over for some lunch in fantasy land. It was just before 11 (we got a lot done in 2 hours!) so we were some of the first in line at the restaurant. We all ate lunch and then headed back to the hotel so that we could let the girls rest and Killian nap.
Boat ride back to hotel. (Those balloons are still inflated at our house by the way...well worth the $10 each if they survive over a week and made the drive in our car top carrier! |
The girls didn't sleep (I know, you are shocked!) but Killian did so I sent the girls with Kelly and Kendall and Angie back to Magic Kingdom while he slept so the "big kids" could have some more fun. They were supposed to try to ride Splash Mountain or at least get fast passes. Turns out, getting to Splash Mountain was hard because of some parade traffic and then the ride was broken. They were able to get passes for later and they walked back to Crystal Palace for our dining reservation. Killian woke up in just enough time for me to barely meet them at the reservation. At Crystal Palace you get to meet Winnie the Pooh
Killian is still not so sure about these guys! |
Tigger
Piglet
and Eeyore. Eeyore was definitely the favorite for Angie!
After our meal, we tried to do the Tiki room but it was broken and the line for Aladdin was too long. It wasn't time yet for our Splash Mountain passes so we decided to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. I'm not sure anyone really enjoyed it but it was funny to me that Killian talked to all the lights. After Pirates I took Brother Bear back to the hotel since I didn't have a pass for Splash Mountain anyway and the rest of the crew headed over to the ride.
They rode next to Uncle Kendall |
Pure joy on that face! |

The girls LOVED Splash Mountain and kept talking about how wet they had gotten. I had specifically packed ponchos for everyone but with all the problems getting to the ride, the ponchos were forgotten. The girls kept saying they needed to have worn their swim suits! Very successful first day Magic Kingdom. Love that place!
Holy Moly on the balloons!
